rails user profile privacy

I have a devise User model and Profile model, the relation is User has one profile. I want the user to be able to chose what information about themselves to share with their friends only or with the public or to be private. I have found how to make the profile private or public but I don't want this. I hope my question is clear and any help would be appreciated.
